hello phonies today i want to talk about
a topic that's really important to me
it's productivity and how to stay
productive as a developer
as a developer and someone with friends
that are developers i have noticed that
a lot of us have trouble focusing and
staying productive
this is not good and that might be
because we're so good at
going through the internet scouring it
for information that we just get
distracted along the way
you're reading one reddit article and
then it just leads into
a rabbit hole of a bunch of different
other things or since
we already have a computer we might even
just check facebook and then get lost
for like 30 minutes or tick tock or
something and this
also extends to like content creators
that are
just constantly switching back and forth
between content creating and actually
consuming content so today i wanted to
introduce you three tools that i use
myself
i'm not an affiliate for any of these
tools i just love using them
and they've really helped me build my
productivity
and limit myself you know not in a bad
way
it's just i need i i know i need help
controlling myself because
i'm very bad at just having consistent
willpower
so i highly recommend that you watch to
the end of this video and that's not
just because i want high watch watch
time i do want high watch time
and engagement on my video but you know
if you can't
watch to the end of this video and check
out all three of these tools
maybe you you're in the same boat as me
because i have a really hard time
focusing on something for more than a
couple minutes as well
stay focused so stay focused as a chrome
extension
where you can actually just set this set
up this chrome extension that you
download from the
google chrome store and it lets you set
a timer it lets you set
like the difficulty level of uh chan
editing the settings so let's say you
wanted to block facebook which i do i
bought facebook
read it no i i don't block reddit
because i need it he's read it sometimes
i should block it but you know we
there's a lot of
programming stuff on write it so yeah
i'll block facebook i blog
tic tac i block um
some other websites that i can't really
think of off top of the dome right now
so this extension is completely free
which is awesome
that someone made this tool for people
to use for free that's incredible value
to the world
and i thank the developer for that the
next tool unhooked
this tool here is incredible all right i
use youtube a lot
because i'm not only do i make content
for youtube but i watch a lot of youtube
and there's a lot of programming
resources on youtube that i need access
to so i can't just block it and uh this
allows me to remove all the
recommendations
and all the comments just basically all
the noise from youtube
so i'm only looking at the video that i
want to look at so it's more purposeful
right and i can watch my youtube videos
i can
learn what i need to learn and i'm just
i just get off there's
none of the features that youtube has
that
are designed to keep you just on the
platform unhooked is
a chrome extension that is free and it's
an incredible asset that you can use
and it costs nothing so you have nothing
to lose
so the third tool stay focused it sounds
like the first
extension that i mentioned but this has
an e d at the end whereas the extension
is just the d
stay focused is an app that's it starts
off free it has ads in the free version
and it doesn't have the strict mode
but i purchased the premium version for
the strict mode
and there's a few other features i don't
remember but it was totally worth it
my phone is where i have probably the
least amount of self-control
so especially on important days that
initial barrier to
entry into some of these apps is enough
to determine remind me that
i had something to do today and even
though it's
on normal mode it's pretty easy to
disable which i normally just keep it at
the normal mode to
give me that little reminder that i i
shouldn't be using these apps i
shouldn't be on my phone right now
that little reminder is usually enough
but just keep in mind that
it is easy to disable this app you can
just go in and
turn it off you can just go into the app
and disable it for the day
or you can put it on the strict mode and
you probably have to like restart your
phone or something
if you have any tools or tips that i
didn't mention that you think could help
the community
don't hesitate to leave a comment down
below and also if you like this kind of
content
let me know by hitting that like button
i really appreciate it this is codepony
out
peace
