what's up phonies so today i'm gonna be
talking about why i
regret dropping out of college three
times
yeah so i definitely regret dropping out
of college
i am in tech right now but it does close
some doors to me i think
i can't for example i can't tell you how
many times i've had linkedin recruiters
message me then contact me waste an hour
of my time and then they'll be like
oh it's like they didn't read my resume
they'll go down to the education section
where it clearly says incomplete it also
says that on my linkedin as well
and they're like oh this is a basic
requirement for the position
and usually i just try to be nice i'm
just like uh all right well
if you can make an exception for me uh
just let me know i would really
appreciate it
and they're always like oh yeah yeah
sure we're gonna push it to the manager
or whatever but then they just don't
call me back
so there's that uh so that's
one downside of not having your degree
normally i'm just screened out there's
recruiters out there that
apparently aren't reading resumes very
carefully
and you know they're just looking for
the buzzwords which my resume does have
all the buzzwords pretty much these days
i think other than maybe ai and another
reason that
i regret dropping out is
whenever you actually get to the
interview step there's that dreaded
question
it's like why did you drop out of
college and i just hate hearing this
question because whenever
i don't i mean i don't always hear it
but when i do
i'm basically thinking like okay this
person
already has the negative bias against me
they've probably already screened me out
in their mind
from the first three or four seconds of
our conversations
like what's the point of even continuing
from this point
that's just from my experience um i
usually
still i just give them the straight-up
answer i
ran into financial issues because of
mistakes i made when i was younger
and they can see from my body work since
then that
i corrected those mistakes but still
because i don't have the college degree
it's like a stain
right and when you're you're stained
you're just dirty so it's difficult to
get
i guess opportunities
because you're viewed that way in
society by employers
because the managers i mean they just
want to hire somebody that's safe
so that they don't get flat later on so
they hi
they go out on a limb and hire me or
hire someone without a degree a lot of
times
they're gonna be like someone's gonna go
back and be like why did you hire this
person
when they didn't have the basic
requirements
so i'm sure there's plenty of other
reasons
like out out there that i regret
dropping out of college
like for example casual conversation
sometimes
i try to take it as a point of pride but
you know
it's still kind of like a chip off a
chip on my shoulder pretty much
so it's really nice talking to you guys
today my channel is about coding
stuff like that and i just get sometimes
if you
if you like this kind of content please
hit that like and subscribe button i
really appreciate you being here today
listening to my story
this is codepony out peace
