ChatGPT, urgent request. Is 10K lines of
code even enough today to survive in
this job market?
The number of lines of code by itself
doesn't say much about your value. In
today's job market, what really matters
is the impact of your work. Whether you
solve meaningful problems, build
reliable systems, or help a team move
faster. If you can demonstrate
thoughtful design, collaboration, and a
positive impact, that's what keeps you
relevant. Then hold up, hold up. Wait,
but CEOs online are saying that they can
write tens of thousands of lines of code
per day. So, that means me, as an
employee, I should be able to write
100,000 lines of code, right? I take
those CEO boasts with a grain of salt.
They might be talking about code
generation tools or just exaggerating
for effect. In reality, companies want
clean, maintainable code, not just
volume. If you somehow wrote 100,000
lines of code a day, you'd sacrifice
quality.
>> They They want clean, maintainable code.
Is that what you're saying?
Exactly.
>> No.
