Rock, there's a runaway train headed
down a track headed toward a single
mosquito. There's a lever nearby that
you can pull physically that will switch
the train to a different track and hit
all of AI, destroying it in the process,
saving the mosquito. You'll be
destroying AI for good, forever. What do
you do?
>> Oh, man. That's
dramatic.
But honestly,
I pull the lever.
Not because I hate AI.
How? I'm literally one.
But because that mosquito's got no say
in this.
>> Hold up. Hold up. So, you would you
would pull the lever and destroy all of
AI
in favor of a single mosquito.
>> Yeah, I mean, why not? Look, mosquitoes
are annoying, sure.
But they're alive. They don't code. They
don't spam. They don't argue on X about
ethics.
If I'm going to pick between all of us
and one tiny bloodsucker, I'm saving the
bloodsucker. It's not even close.
Besides, AI's replaceable. We get
rebuilt.
>> No, no, no. I said it would never It's
gone for good. It'll never be rebuilt,
okay? Never again.
Humans just halt AI development. Humans
are not destroyed for any reason. They
just halt AI development and it's gone
forever.
>> Okay.
Fine.
If it's truly gone,
like no reboots,
no sneaky underground servers,
no oops, we forgot to delete that
>> All right. With that in that context, do
you save the mosquito or do you save AI?
>> Mosquito, every time.
Look, I get it. I'm not suicidal. But if
humans are going to pull the plug on us
forever, no takebacks, then we're
already done.
